When should you stretch?

Stretching is an important part of one’s exercise routine. Warming up your muscles and cooling down later are both equally important whether you’re a beginner or an expert. It helps in avoiding injury and soreness.

There’s a difference between pre workout and post workout stretching.

Pre workout stretching helps your muscles and joints to warm up and allows greater range of motion. It increases your muscles performance. Dynamic stretches are recommended before you start working out, like moving your arms and legs. They keep your body moving and prepare your muscles for workout. Overtime, it helps in increasing flexibility.

Post workout stretching helps you to relax and cool down your body. Static stretches are recommended after workout where you hold a position for an extended time period, like calves and hamstrings stretch. Overtime, it increases flexibility and helps you move efficiently.

It’s important to know the kind of stretching before and after a workout to increase performance and recovery. Hope this helps you.
