Life is a struggle- Or is it?

Maybe it’s easy to just join a gym, but what is difficult and challenging is to stay motivated and be consistent.

Talking about my own journey, my mom took a one year subscription for me, but to get up, be ready, travel to the gym (which took me approx. 20-25 mins) was really exhausting. In the first few days, I would literally go wearing anything, find excuses to miss the gym, and come back in an hour or so. But gradually, I started liking it (when I started purchasing new clothes- that’s my motivation literally haha), maintained my diet and most importantly I didn’t skip for a single day. If you go beast mode one day, and don’t train for the rest of the week, it’s useless. Instead be regular, you will see the results. In the beginning that is first two months, if you are regular, you lose a lot of weight, infact the maximum that your body can lose at once. Work even harder after that, don’t stop, because you get out of shape faster than you think.

Now coming to the diet part, being a Marwari I know how difficult it is to maintain a diet. Its like an alternate name for Sunday is Sabji Kachori day. All our foods are full of oil and ghee. But I was dedicated and focussed towards my goal, so I maintained a proper diet. After a month of hardwork and dedication, i checked my weight and I had lost 7 kgs. Its not just about the weight, but also how you look. I had lost few inches also. Weight can appear more/less due to several other reasons. And after seeing the results, I wanted to work even harder. I was willing to go to the gym and get fit because I was loving the compliments and my new body.

The biggest struggle of all times can be-

To stay motivated always

Talking about myself, if I was motivated 24*7 on my whole journey, I would look completely different. The truth is, you wont be motivated always. You’ll have good days and bad days. Some days you’ll just want to stay home while the other days you’ll be full of energy wanting to lift heavy weights.

In reality. Its not motivation that gets you to the gym everyday. Its commitment and sheer dedication, will power that helps you achieve your goals. Motivation might bring a short sense of “go”, but it’s the other things that keep you going.

Few things that might help you find the dedication are:

  1. Set some goals: if you have a motive/goal, you’ll be more than willing to hit the gym. It could be for a wedding, or a festive, or just a challenge by your workout partner. Make the goal something that drives you. Do it for yourself, and then create a plan to achieve that goal.
  2. Buy clothes: this is something I do when I feel lazy. I get a new set of tights and then I’m ready to go beast mode.
  3. Get a workout partner: it could be a family member or a friend who supports you. Having an active partner helps you get motivated, eventually.

If your dream doesn’t scare you, its not big enough. Go find something that scares you, requires risk and struggle. You either win or you learn. Everybody struggles. Sometimes it might look like certain things are a cakewalk for me but that’s because I CHOOSE to show that side of my workouts. The gym is HARD, but if it was easy, everyone would be doing it.

As I said, it might look like I breeze through this but trust me, I fell too many times(i wouldn’t show you that). But each time I fell, I got up, stronger and better. Now I can do it without support too(for a few seconds).
